Manuscript on paper of a lieutenant's logbook documenting two voyages by the Ruby, one to Cadiz via Tangier and the second to the Canaries. Daily entries include wind, weather, latitude, ship sightings, and ship contacts. Tipped in following p. 5: LS by Sir Thomas Allin certifying Lt. Henry Wright's good conduct while serving on the Ruby, 1682 Jun 2. Tipped in following p. 7: receipt for the jounal, signed "Brisbane," 1682 May 9.
